Legalization of Marijuana Bill in California

Assemblyman Tom Ammiano will announce legislation on Monday to legalize marijuana and earn perhaps $1 billion annually by taxing it.

Awesome... but it will still be a Federal crime, so that little detail still needs to get worked out. The money to be made from this is astounding, they really do need to legalize and tax the hell out of it.

Federally, you're right, it's still illegal--and probably for a long time. I doubt it will go far in states like Utah (no offense to Utahians), but it's true. It just won't. Not in my life time.

In all honestly, I don't even think this bill will pass in California. I mean, our state still feels it's necessary to consider gays second class citizens. So if it does pass, I will be greatly surprised.
